Demon matrimony...

So spook has a wife... Not that marriage is an exclusively religious thing (I know plenty of folks who view it as "Ok. Now yer the only hole I'll poke."), but I just wonder what it means to spook. Or really a demon or whatever you'd call spook.

Is it a commitment thing? Would they be open for foolin' around with the right person they could both agree on? Just curious...

P.S. If this is something you plan on addressing in the comic in some way just say so. I'd rather read it in a comic than just get an answer. I only asked cause I couldn't think of a really natural way it'd get brought up in the comic.

Re: Demon matrimony...

I have a side project I'm writing script for right now which deals with how Silk and Spook met.  It's supposed to be a one-shot 32-page comic, but I'm still tinkering with it.

That story will talk about these things more in-depth, but for now:

Words like "husband" and "wife" and "marriage" are rough English translations, and don't necessarily mean the same thing to non-humans as they do to the rest of us.

However, Spook and Silk are completely faithful to one another.  When you consider that Silk is a succubus and succubi are known for sleeping around to gain the energy of their lovers, that's quite a feat on Silk's part.  She has a trick, actually...which we'll get to see one of these days.

As for Spook...he's not quite GQ material so I don't see him getting a lot of tail on the side.  :D

Re: Demon matrimony...

It's all about spook's mojo.  he's got more than one succubus can handle!  ;D

as for marriage amongst the "unholy" that's a strange doublestandard, since the "unholy" are just all about true freedom and sovereignty of self...  well at least as portrayed in locus, there are still "bad guys" who are apparently all about destroying reality :

Re: Demon matrimony...

ha ha ha. So I never really thought of it, but that's true!! We have a book here where the heroes are monsters and demons and the "hell bent on oblivion" main villain is relatively human (well... you know... as mad monks go).

Re: Demon matrimony...

A lot of this comic is monsters vs. monsters, because I love those sorts of movies.  Dracula vs. the Wolfman, for example.  Or the entire Underworld series.

It'll get a little deeper once the story after Unveiled gets started.  Not much, but a little.  I've got a lot of ass-kickin' to squeeze in, after all.  ;D
