[READ] [LEAVE COMMENT]So Jason and I have been working hard on the new design implementation which should be up very soon. I must say it looks great! We put a focus on a more intuitive UI based of all your great feedback. Stay Tuned! We might even toss a sneak preview before it goes live.
THE FEED: The site feed is up and running. Go check it out: FEED ME
You can now become a fan of a project or user which will subscribe you to their updates. This can also give you access to Fan only content if the creator has added any.
There has been a lot of new comics being posted by some very talented creators/publishers. Head over here: NEW COMICS to see what's new. Or go to the feed.
A few more cool things coming in the next few weeks: WEview system: This will let fans/critics create reviews for your project to help boost your project rank. Jobs Board: We will be launching the WEvolt jobs board soon with a couple jobs ready to unleash. This will be a great place for you to find talent for a project either as a work for hire or collaborative.
REMINDER: Share subscriptions with creators! For all of you who have signed up for a SuperFan account or Pro Creator. Thank you! As a reminder half of your subscription is shared with a project of your choice. Start supporting the creators you love to read.

WELCOME TO WEVOLT!
We are live!
I'm Jason Badower the site's co-creator and designer. I'm a comic book writer and artist having worked on HEROES, TRUE BLOOD and the upcoming BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA.
And what an auspicious day! Webcomics giant ZUDACOMICS.com run by DC comics closed its doors today. And now, a new webcomics giant steps into the ring instead. The biggest differences are:
1. We don't take any ownership of your property. WEvolt will never a single percent of your ownership ever in perpetuity until the end of time, throughout the known universe or until Galactus eats the planet.
2. We look after fans. We give each fan their own web page to organize and share content with their friends. Found something cool? Share it!
But now we're live, I wanna thank my partner in crime fighting, the second half of the dynamic duo and the Superman to my Krypto, Matt Jacobs. Matt co-created and coded the site you see before you.
We recently brought on the incredibly talented, code-bender Dan Kram to help Matt and they've made an amazing team.
I also wanna thank everyone who sent in bugs. We've almost got them all, but if you find any others post them at our:
BUG SQUASHING FORUM!
And the biggest question is...
WHAT IS WEVOLT?
Here's a quick 2.5min video I made and posted to YOUTUBE. I will post it again in our tutorial section (when I've finished designing it!).
Then I'm gonna follow it up with a bunch of uh... tutorials.
RELEASE SCHEDULE
You can find this on our HOMEPAGE, but I'd like to chat about it here too. I'm gonna update it every post.
Friday July 2nd:
USER GROUPS. You will be able to create groups of your fans and friends to allow only the people you want access to your content.
Saturday July 3rd:
I don't wanna be melodramatic when I say these next two items will change the way you use the web... but they will. Buckle up for:
CONTENT FEED. This will be your one stop place to find out what's happening with all your friends and content you follow.
PERSONAL EVENT CALENDAR: The events calendar is so close to done, but there are just a couple minor tweaks before we're happy with it.
Thursday July 8th:
WEvolt COMIC FONT. Nothing makes a comic look more professional than a professional comic font. For all you Professional subscribers you will have access to a royalty free comic lettering font to use on your projects designed by yours truly.
WEVOLT PRO EXPERIENCE!
And don't forget, you can sign up for an ad-free experience from $1.50 per month. And $1 of that goes directly to your favorite creator.
NEW CMS PREVIEWposted: 06-29-2010 by wevolt

JASON SAYS:
I notice that the most common comments so far about WEvolt are that the interface is a little "funky."
I'm not here to make excuses, it absolutely is.
And it's funky for two reasons:
1. We haven't taught you how to use the designs! I just created a bunch of screencast videos to teach you how to use all the navigation tools. I'm talking to our uber-social marketing tech dude about how best to upload these.
2. It is just plain funky. The way Matt and I worked was that we decided that it was important to get something up there and then by using it, figure out what didn't work with it. In that instance I didn't spend a lot of time designing it. The Content Management System is a great example of that. We slapped something up that works, but it ain't pretty and as we discovered, not user-friendly. I highlighted THE PATH last blog post, and that brilliance was made with our "funky" CMS.
But Matt and I don't expect everyone to have the same perseverance and commitment that JamesRiot does. Hell, I don't! Which is why my projects remain suspiciously empty.
So I've been working on a new CMS design. Here's a sneak preview of what you will see. It's clean, slick and explains every step for an incredibly user-friendly experience.
No, those aren't my projects, just thumbnails I used as placeholders.
When can you see it? Why July 1st my friends!

Welcome to WEvolt beta!
Matt and I are going to chime in on a daily basis and let you know all the awesome stuff that's happening on WEvolt.
First up, we can't thank you enough for checking out WEvolt at it's largely embryonic stage. I mentioned on the SQUASHING BUGS FORUM that you guys are like Indiana Jones hacking yourself a lone path through a jungle with merely a machete. Meanwhile, Matt and I are miles behind you trying to pave a road for everyone else.
And that road will be paved by July 1st well ahead of Comic Con!
To help us get there, and to help Matt get some sleep before then (he's seriously working 14-16 hours a day right now) it would be great if you could add any bugs to the SQUASHING BUGS FORUM. Try and describe how you created the bug, and it's even better if you can post the error code you get in the forum also.
So what's working right now?
Your MYvolt and WEvolt pages are pretty solid right now. I'm going to cover some ideas on how to use them next post.
WEvolt is so vast and so versatile, we don't want to tell you that you have to use it a specific way. We just want to show you some ideas, and see which ones work for you.

WHAT IS WEVOLT?
This is a question that I'm getting bombarded with. And it's a fair question too, because quite frankly, there's never been anything like WEvolt.
At its heart, WEvolt is two things.
1. WEvolt is an online entertainment platform for creators. It's designed for webcomics, but I will let you in on a little secret... It works for any online media. Comic book creators, bands, poets, bloggers, professional haiku-writers, aspiring film makers, photographers and artists. It's a means to create a unique and professional online identity without knowing any html. Then you can apply for our revenue share and start monetizing all that hard work.
2. WEvolt is an online content aggregator and sharing tool. On your MYvolt page you can organize all your online content into categories, then schedule it all. Remind yourself to check out ESPN.com or deviantart.com every day, but maybe go check out cracked.com every Wednesday? Or vice versa, it's up to you. If you like a page, don't just bookmark it. Schedule it! Then use your WEvolt page to publish all your favorite stuff so friends can see it and check it out. Then find out what sites your friends are visiting.
There's so many more parts to WEvolt. Networks, forums, WEmail, the Studio as well as our WEvolutionary navigation system. Some parts are here, some parts are only partially here. I'd like to say that by July 1st it's all going to be here, but Matt and I are coming up with new ideas every day. And we'd love your ideas too. Head to the CONTACTS page and let us know what you think.
You can find more information about WEvolt on our ABOUT page. There's a cartoon strip and a little origin story.
In upcoming posts I'm going to be throwing you some ideas on how to use your MYvolt and WEvolt pages.
UPDATED: Matt just implemented my new CMS design. Go check it out, it's much cleaner and much more stable. Click on your REvolt button on the left there.
