deathlings

We are extending our preview of Issue 1 for a little longer, so you can see what a normal day is like for Anne, and meet some more of the characters. (Updates are still every Tuesday and Thursday.)

Deathlings Fans Unite! Fanpages, Art Contest, and More!

I have a bunch of news about how you can work together with the Deathlings community, so now seemed like the perfect time for another update.

The Deathlings Fan Page on Facebook

There are already over 50 fans of The Deathlings on Facebook. If you'd like to join us, just visit the fan page and join! Please feel free to contribute by posting related links, comment on our discussions, and so forth!

The Deathlings first official Art Contest on DeviantArt

We are also running an official fan-art contest over on DeviantArt, the site that brought us together. It's a great way to win prizes for contributing fan-art, sketches, etc. Just visit this article to read more about the contest.

A Little Advertising

We're also testing the waters with advertising, a little. The webcomic doesn't bring in any money, but we still know how iimportant it is to spread the word. So thanks to the cool people at Project Wonderful and Google AdWords, you may see our ads on BendisBoard, SinFest, and some other cool comics-related sites.

A Request for Help

As the writer of a comic that doesn't have a publisher yet, I have a lot of different jobs on top of writing the book. I'm our letterer, our designer, our unofficial editor, and I also handle things like production and marketing.

That last part is a big challenge for me. So I've put together a cry for help, in the form of a journal entry on DeviantArt, asking for suggestions on how we can best spread the word.

Thanks

As always, I owe every square inch of the comic, and every ounce of its success to the amazing team that I'm privileged to work with.

This week, I'd also like to thank David LaFuente, Daniel Govar, and Jeff Wamester, three amazingly supportive comics pros, for their advice, kind words, and general support.

And of course, thanks to you, the hundreds of people who are visiting this site and checking out our webcomic every day. I hope you stick with us.

How You Can Help - Our Banner
posted: November 6, 2009
We're a small operation right now. The artists are doing their work knowing they won't be paid until we find a print publisher, and I (the writer) am also standing in as the Editor, Letterer, and Designer.

All that being the case, I don't mind saying that we can always use help from our friends and fans. Right now, the best way you could possibly help would be to spread the word about The Deathlings, and lead people towards this site. (Links to TheDeathlings.com are the most helpful.)

To help you with that, I have put together a banner:

You can download or hotlink this banner from http://thedeathlings.com/banner1.gif

(I hope you like this banner, featuring artwork from the official cover for Issue 1, by Reuben Negron.)
